Te mapa
Vila Rica sits in the far northeast of Mato Grosso, close to the borders with Pará and Tocantins. Like many towns founded on Brazil's agricultural frontier, it has a clear planned grid. Wide streets form rectangular blocks, and the town ends sharply where pasture and cropland begin. A long highway runs past it and connects it to the rest of the region.
The municipality belongs to the Araguaia region, where cattle ranching and, increasingly, grain farming shape the economy. The landscape around the town combines cerrado savanna with patches of forest, and the rivers that cross it drain toward the Araguaia basin.
A Vila Rica map poster shows a town that is young by Brazilian standards: a regular grid, a few main avenues, and a surrounding pattern of long straight rural roads dividing the land into large properties. In black and white, the geometry is plain and bold, with a lot of open space around a compact centre.
Evenly spaced streets form rectangular blocks. They give the town a crisp, orderly outline on the map.
A long road runs past the town and ties it to neighbouring municipalities. It crosses the frame as a strong continuous line.
Straight dirt roads divide the surrounding land into large properties. They extend the town's geometry across the open country.
