Te mapa
Volgorechensk was founded in the 1960s on the left bank of the Volga in Kostroma Oblast, to house the workers of the Kostroma power station. That origin is easy to see from above. The town is planned rather than grown, with apartment blocks set in regular groups, wide straight avenues and green space between the buildings, all placed on a clear axis near the river.
The power station is one of the largest thermal plants in Russia, and its site forms a separate industrial zone beside the town, with a large cooling pond and infrastructure reaching out along the shore. The Volga itself runs broad and smooth past the town, taking up much of the map.
A Volgorechensk map poster shows the logic of a Soviet new town: neighbourhoods arranged in blocks, a clear boundary between living and working areas, and the great river setting the scale. In black and white, the precision of the plan and the open water balance each other.
The river runs past the town as a wide, calm band. It dominates the map and gives the tightly planned streets a strong natural edge.
The station and its cooling pond sit next to the residential area, forming a large, distinct zone that explains why the town was built.
Apartment buildings stand in regular groups between broad streets, a clear example of 1960s and 1970s Soviet town planning.

The poster appeals to people who grew up in Volgorechensk, families of the power station's workers, and anyone interested in planned towns. It records a whole place designed at once, alongside one of Russia's great rivers.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates and choose from five styles. Blueprint works well for a planned town. HD files come in six sizes, each as a 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF, for $9.
