Te mapa
Wausau grew up along the Wisconsin River as a lumber town in the nineteenth century, when logs from the northern forests were floated downstream to its sawmills. Today it is the seat of Marathon County, and its map is shaped by the river, which divides the city into east and west sides and widens into Lake Wausau to the south.
Downtown sits on the east bank in a compact grid, with a pedestrian square and older brick buildings at its centre, while residential streets spread out in regular blocks on both sides of the water. Bridges link the two halves, and islands and riverside parks break the channel into smaller pieces.
To the southwest rises Rib Mountain, one of the higher points in Wisconsin and home to the Granite Peak ski area; its wooded slopes give a Wausau map poster a strong counterweight to the grid. The city is also known for the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and its annual Birds in Art exhibition.
The river runs north to south through the city, crossed by several bridges and lined with parks, dams and islands that give its course a varied outline.
East of the river, a tight grid of blocks forms the historic centre, with the pedestrian square and main shopping streets at its heart.
The long ridge of Rib Mountain rises southwest of town, its state park and ski runs marked by winding roads across wooded slopes.

Koteā ko Wausau
Wausau is a place people come back to, for family, for the ski season or for summer on the river. A print of its streets makes a warm gift for graduates, newlyweds and anyone who has moved away from central Wisconsin.
Choose a title and subtitle, perhaps a street name or wedding date, and keep or edit the coordinates line. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, work in any room, and printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
