Te mapa
Waverly is a community on the west side of the Lansing area in Michigan, part of the continuous suburban landscape around the state capital. From above, it is defined by residential subdivisions with winding streets and cul-de-sacs, set between a small number of straight arterial roads. Schools, parks and shopping centres fill the gaps between neighbourhoods.
The Midwestern pattern of one-mile section roads is still visible here, framing the softer curves of later housing developments. The Grand River flows through the wider Lansing area, but the region's flat glacial terrain means that the street network, rather than hills or valleys, provides most of the map's structure.
A Waverly map poster renders this everyday geometry with clarity: the long straight lines of the main roads, the looping shapes of residential streets and the open blocks of parks and school grounds. It is a map that rewards close looking, showing the specific streets where people live, go to school and know every turn.
Straight arterial roads follow the old survey grid, crossing the area in long, regular lines that frame each neighbourhood and organise the whole map.
Inside the grid, residential streets loop and branch into cul-de-sacs, creating the soft, organic shapes that give suburban maps their distinctive texture.
Open green spaces and campuses appear as clear blank areas between housing, offering quiet breaks in the dense pattern of residential streets.
