Te mapa
Weinan sits on the Guanzhong plain in eastern Shaanxi, a short distance east of Xi'an. From above, the city lies along the southern side of the Wei River. The riverbank sets the east–west direction of the main roads, and cross streets run south toward the rising loess terraces. The pattern is broad and even, the way plains cities usually are.
The Wei River is the defining line on any Weinan map poster. It is wide and slightly braided, with sandbars and floodplain along its channel. South of the river the blocks are fairly regular, and newer districts spread outward in larger rectangles. Rail lines and expressways follow the valley, because this has long been the natural corridor between central China and the northwest.
The wider prefecture reaches east to the meeting of the Wei and Yellow rivers. It also contains Mount Hua, one of China's five great mountains, known for its steep granite peaks and cliffside paths. The city map is quieter than that landscape. It records a plains settlement shaped by a river that has fed farming in this valley for thousands of years.
A broad channel runs across the north of the city. Its sandbars and floodplain appear as pale open ground next to the dense street pattern on the southern bank.
Railways and expressways follow the Wei valley east to west. These long parallel lines connect Weinan with Xi'an and with the Yellow River crossings further east.
South of the centre the street grid thins out as it climbs toward the loess uplands. The regular blocks give way to looser roads that follow the terrain.

Koteā ko Weinan
Weinan appeals to people who know the Guanzhong plain: families from the area, travellers who climbed Mount Hua, or anyone with ties to the Wei valley. The river and the grid make a clean, readable composition in black and white.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a home district or a date that matters to you. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files or order a printed poster.
