Te mapa
Whampoa lies in Hung Hom, on the eastern side of the Kowloon peninsula, facing Victoria Harbour. The area was once home to the Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock, one of the largest shipyards in the colony. When the docks closed, the site was redeveloped into Whampoa Garden, a large residential estate of high-rise towers laid out on reclaimed land along the waterfront.
From above, the estate is a tight, regular grid of residential blocks, shopping streets and podiums, bordered by the harbour on one side and older Hung Hom neighbourhoods on the other. At its centre stands a full-sized concrete ship, a shopping building that recalls the dockyard past. A metro station opened in 2016 now connects the area directly to the MTR network.
A Whampoa map poster shows a very urban place in a small frame. The straight harbourfront line, the dense street blocks and the promenade create a strong, graphic composition. It is a detailed map of one of Kowloon's most recognisable residential districts, and a personal one for the many people who have lived here.
The estate runs along Victoria Harbour, and the straight reclaimed shoreline with its promenade forms a clean, strong edge across the map.
A full-sized concrete ship stands at the centre of the estate as a shopping and dining building, a nod to the shipyard that once occupied the site.
Residential towers and podiums are laid out in a regular grid of streets and courtyards, much denser than the older Hung Hom blocks nearby.

Whampoa is home to many Hong Kong families, and a map of the estate captures the everyday routes between home, the harbour and the shops. It is a precise, graphic print that suits a small apartment wall.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a building name or move-in date, and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files for $9 include sizes from A3 to 24×36″.
