Te mapa
Wulong is a district of Chongqing Municipality, and its main town sits deep in the valley of the Wu River. From above, the built-up area looks squeezed. Streets run in long bands parallel to the river because the slopes rise too sharply on either side to allow much else. The contour lines of the surrounding hills crowd right up to the edge of the town.
The land around Wulong is known for its karst. Limestone plateaus, sinkholes, natural bridges and caves make up the Wulong Karst, which is part of the South China Karst UNESCO World Heritage Site. On a map this land looks rugged, with roads that switchback up the slopes and tributary valleys that cut sharply into the uplands on both banks of the river.
A Wulong map poster turns this terrain into black lines on white paper. The river becomes a strong curve through the centre and the town a narrow ribbon along it. Around them, winding mountain roads show how hard it is to cross this country. The result is a map where the geography does most of the work.
The Wu River flows through the district in a deep valley and sets the orientation of the whole town. Streets, embankments and bridges all line up with its course.
Steep slopes on both banks keep the urban area long and narrow, so the street grid stretches along the valley floor instead of spreading outward.
Above the valley, the roads follow the broken limestone country recognised by UNESCO. Their switchbacks and isolated settlements trace the edge of plateaus and gorges.

Koteā ko Wulong
Wulong suits people who have travelled through the gorges of Chongqing or who have family roots in the district. The map shows a place where the river and the mountains decide everything, and the long, narrow composition works well in a hallway or above a desk.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a date or a family name. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint and Noir bring out the river especially clearly.
