Te mapa
Yenakiyeve lies in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, in the heart of the Donbas coal basin. It is not one compact city but a chain of districts that grew up around mines and the steel works, linked by roads across gently rolling steppe. On a map this gives the town a scattered, stretched outline, with built-up areas separated by open ground, ravines and industrial land.
The town grew from the late nineteenth century as coal mining and iron production arrived, and for decades its identity was bound to the steel plant. The plant's sheds, rail sidings and yards take up a large part of the map. Like many Donbas towns, Yenakiyeve also carries mining in its landscape, including the conical spoil heaps that rise above the surrounding land.
A Yenakiyeve map poster records the geometry of an industrial town in fine detail: residential blocks from different eras, workers' settlements, railway lines threading between them and the long boundaries of the works. For people born here who now live far away, it is a way to keep the familiar layout close, drawn quietly and without the noise of the news.
The metallurgical plant fills a large area with long sheds, yards and internal rail lines. On the poster it becomes a dense, geometric block unlike the housing around it.
Residential areas sit in separate clusters rather than one continuous city. The open ground between them gives the map an unusual, archipelago-like shape.
Rail tracks link the works, the former mines and the wider Donbas network, curving between districts as the longest continuous lines in the composition.

Koteā ko Yenakiyeve
Many families from Yenakiyeve are now spread across Ukraine and beyond, and a map of the town keeps the streets of childhood, the school and the walk to the plant within reach. It is a personal object, and far more a record of home than a statement.
You can write your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a year or a family name, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
