Te mapa
Yola, the capital of Adamawa State in northeastern Nigeria, is really a pair of settlements. The older town of Yola is home to the Lamido's palace, while Jimeta, a few kilometres to the north near the Benue River, grew as the commercial and administrative centre. On a map they appear as two linked clusters joined by a main road, with open ground between them.
The Benue is one of Nigeria's great rivers, and here it spreads across a wide floodplain that swells in the rainy season. The town was founded in the nineteenth century by Modibbo Adama, after whom the state and emirate are named. It is also home to the American University of Nigeria, whose campus forms a distinct area on the edge of town.
A Yola map poster shows the looser, more open fabric of a savanna city, with long straight roads, scattered blocks and the Benue drawing a wide curve across the top. The contrast between the dense markets of Jimeta and the calmer streets around the palace gives the print two distinct centres.
North of Jimeta, the river and its seasonal wetlands form a wide, flat band of water and sandbars that dominates the upper part of the map.
The busiest part of the city, where streets run closer together and blocks are smaller, forming the densest patch on the poster.
The historic town around the Lamido's palace sits to the south, a separate cluster of streets connected to Jimeta by a main road.

Koteā ko Yola
Yola has deep roots for families across Adamawa and is a formative place for students and staff of its university. A map of the twin towns captures both, and reads well at larger sizes where the river has room.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to suit, with a name, a graduation year or a family date, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
