Te mapa
Yongjia sits in the western part of the Chongqing municipality, in the rolling hill country of the eastern Sichuan Basin. The landscape here is made of long, low ridges and folded valleys, and settlements follow whatever flat ground is available. From above, the town appears as a cluster of streets packed along a valley floor, with roads snaking out between the hills toward neighbouring villages.
Around the built-up area, the land is intensively farmed. Terraces, fish ponds and small reservoirs are typical of this part of Chongqing, and they create a fine, irregular pattern of field boundaries and water bodies that even a simple map picks up. Roads rarely run straight for long, bending around every contour.
A Yongjia map poster captures that dense, hand-worked terrain. The town core reads as a tight knot, while the outer roads trace the shape of the hills they avoid. It is a very different image from Chongqing's famous downtown towers, a reminder that most of this vast municipality is rural hill country where towns grow slowly into the folds of the land.
The main streets concentrate where the valley is widest, giving the centre of the poster a compact, darker cluster surrounded by lighter open ground.
Country roads leave town in loose curves, bending around ridges rather than crossing them, which lends the edges of the map a flowing, calligraphic quality.
Small bodies of water scattered through the farmland appear as pale islands on the poster, a signature of the carefully managed landscape of the Sichuan Basin.
