Yushan is a town in the south-east of Chongqing municipality, in the mountainous country that rises toward the Wuling range. Its street map is shaped by relief: roads follow low ground and hillsides instead of a straight grid, and the built area extends wherever the land is level enough to take it. Beyond the edges, the map is dominated by slopes, ridges and small watercourses.
This part of Chongqing is largely rural, with farmland on terraces and valley floors and forested hills above.
