Te mapa
Zé Doca is a town in the western part of Maranhão, in north-eastern Brazil, on the transition between the drier interior and the Amazon forest region to the west. On the map it appears as a compact grid of streets, with a main road passing through and neighbourhoods extending outward in regular blocks.
The land around the town is low and gently undulating, crossed by small rivers and streams whose wooded banks show as thin, winding lines. Beyond the edge of the built area, rural roads run out across pasture and farmland, and the pattern of settlement becomes sparse and scattered.
A Zé Doca map poster presents a town that grew quickly as settlement pushed into this part of Maranhão. Its tidy street layout, set in a wide, open landscape, makes for a clear and balanced composition, and a meaningful piece for anyone with roots in the town or the surrounding region.
Straight streets and near-regular blocks form the heart of the town, a planned pattern that expands outward as new neighbourhoods are added.
The highway passing through the town gives the map a clear spine, linking Zé Doca to other towns across western Maranhão.
Beyond the town, small watercourses wind across open farmland, their fine curving lines contrasting with the straight rural roads and field edges.
