The map
Yaguachi Nuevo lies in Guayas Province, in the flat, humid lowlands east of Guayaquil on Ecuador's coast. From above it appears as a grid of blocks set among rivers and farmland. Water shapes the edges of the town as much as any road does, and waterways curve around and beyond the built-up area in every direction.
The surrounding plain is one of Ecuador's main rice-growing areas, and beyond town the map is a mesh of paddies, irrigation channels and farm tracks. The Yaguachi name is also tied to San Jacinto, the town's patron saint. His feast each August draws pilgrims to Yaguachi from across the coast.
A Yaguachi Nuevo map poster brings together the regular streets of the town and the looser, water-shaped patterns around it. In black and white, riverbanks, channels and field lines form a detailed, flowing background. The grid of the centre gives the composition a firm, orderly anchor right in the middle of the sheet.

Winding rivers and dug channels cross the plain near town. Their curved lines mark the edges of the town and link it to the wider river system.
Flat fields divided into many small plots surround the town. Their boundaries form a fine mesh that fills much of the map with quiet texture.
