About this Yirga ‘Alem map poster
Yirga ‘Alem lies in the Sidama Region of southern Ethiopia, in the highlands on the eastern side of the Rift Valley. From above, the town spreads across gently rolling ground, with streets bending to follow the terrain and small plots and trees filling the spaces between buildings. Beyond the edge, farmland and coffee gardens cover the surrounding hills.
The Sidama area is one of Ethiopia's best-known coffee-growing regions, and much of the land around the town is devoted to it. A Yirga ‘Alem map poster shows the town's irregular street pattern and its main routes, which link it to Hawassa to the north and other towns in the region.
