The map

About this Zestaponi map poster

Zestaponi lies in the Imereti region of western Georgia, along the Kvirila River. From above the town stretches along the valley, with the river curving through it and streets extending onto the lower slopes on either side. The railway and main roads follow the valley too, giving the layout a clear direction.

The town is best known for its ferroalloy plant, which processes manganese from the nearby Chiatura mines and has long been an important employer. Industrial sites, rail sidings and older residential districts sit side by side along the river, while vineyards and wooded hills rise around the edges of the town, typical of the Imereti landscape.

A Zestaponi map poster shows a town shaped by river and industry. The curve of the Kvirila, the lines of the railway and the pattern of streets combine into a composition with a strong sense of movement. In monochrome the valley structure becomes particularly clear and graphic.

01

Kvirila River

The river winds through the town along the valley floor, dividing neighbourhoods and giving the map its most prominent, flowing line.

02

Rail corridor

The railway runs through the valley alongside the river, a strong linear element that connects Zestaponi with the rest of western Georgia.

03

Imereti hills

Around the town the land rises into wooded hills and vineyards, framing the valley and softening the edges of the composition.
