The map
Zou lies in the Montagnes District of western Ivory Coast, a region of rolling hills, tropical forest and farmland close to the borders with Guinea and Liberia. On a map the settlement appears as a modest cluster of roads and buildings, surrounded by a much larger area of countryside where tracks and streams run between fields and wooded slopes.
The Montagnes region is one of the more elevated parts of the country, and its landscape shapes how places like Zou look from above. Roads rarely run straight here. They bend around hills and follow valleys, and the smaller paths branch off toward plantations and neighbouring communities, creating an organic, irregular pattern.
A Zou map poster is a spare, quiet design. Most of the sheet is given over to the surrounding land, with the settlement's roads forming a light network at the centre. For people with family ties to the area, it is a simple and honest picture of home, free of any embellishment.

The main built-up area forms a compact cluster at the heart of the map, where the principal roads meet and the network is densest.
Small watercourses and farm tracks thread through the surrounding land, adding fine detail to the open spaces between villages and fields.

Why Zou
For families from western Ivory Coast living in Abidjan or abroad, a map of Zou keeps the home community in view. It also makes a considered gift for an older relative who remembers the village as it was.
You can personalise the title and subtitle, add a date or a family name, and edit the coordinates line. Choose from five styles, including Classic black & white and Sand, and receive $9 print-ready files or a printed poster.
