The map

About this Ain Sukhna map poster

Ain Sukhna is one of the closest points on the Red Sea to Cairo, and over recent decades it has changed from a quiet stretch of shore into a place of two different functions. In the north lies Sokhna Port, one of Egypt's major container and bulk terminals, part of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Further south, resort compounds line the beaches.

From above, the contrast is striking. The port shows straight quays, rectangular basins and large storage yards cut into the coastline. The resort areas are softer, with curving roads, swimming pools and small artificial lagoons. Behind both, the Galala plateau rises steeply, and newer roads climb its face in tight switchbacks towards the mountain-top developments.

An Ain Sukhna map poster sets industry and leisure side by side on a single coastline. The port geometry, the scattered resort lagoons and the mountain roads each give the map a different texture. It shows how quickly a desert shore can be reshaped when it sits within easy driving distance of a capital city.

01

Sokhna Port

The port's basins and quays form hard, straight lines along the northern coast, the most engineered shape on the map.

02

Resort shoreline

Further south, holiday compounds sit along the beach with curving internal roads, pools and small inlets breaking up the coast.

03

Mountain switchbacks

Roads climb the Galala escarpment in tight zigzags, adding a sharp, graphic pattern to the otherwise empty desert slopes.

Why Ain Sukhna

A map that means something

Ain Sukhna means different things to different people: a first beach house, a workplace at the port, a regular escape from Cairo. A map of this coast turns those associations into something to hang at home.

Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a compound name or holiday date, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files are $9 with no watermark, and a free preview is available first.
