About this Artémida map poster
Artémida, also known as Loutsa, lies on the eastern coast of Attica, looking out across the water towards Euboea. From above it reads as a regular grid of streets laid over gently sloping land, with most roads running directly down towards a long, straight beach. The coast forms a clean edge along one side of the town, with open water filling the rest of the view.
The town takes its name from Artemis. Nearby are the remains of an ancient sanctuary dedicated to Artemis Tauropolos, and the area has long been associated with the goddess. Today Artémida is a place of holiday homes and permanent residents, and it is conveniently located a short distance from Athens International Airport on the Mesogeia plain.
