About this As Sarw map poster
As Sarw lies in Damietta governorate, in the north-eastern part of the Nile Delta. The land here is completely flat and intensively farmed, and on a map the town appears as a dense cluster of streets surrounded by a fine grid of fields and irrigation canals.
Canals are the main lines in the landscape. They run between fields, alongside roads and through villages, dividing the land into long, narrow parcels. The town itself has grown in an irregular pattern, with narrow lanes at the centre and wider roads leading out towards neighbouring settlements.
An As Sarw map poster shows the delta's typical texture: dense settlement, farmland and water in close proximity. Lake Manzala and the Mediterranean coast are not far away, but here the map is dominated by the patient, detailed pattern of fields and channels.

Dense town centre

Delta field pattern
Long, narrow fields cover the flat land around the town, creating a fine, repeating texture across the print.
