The map

About this Ballari map poster

Seen from above, Ballari gathers around a single rocky hill. The fort sits on a mass of granite boulders near the centre, and the town's streets bend around its base before straightening out toward the flat farmland of the Deccan plateau. Railway lines cut across the plan, and newer neighbourhoods push outward along the main roads in loose, uneven blocks.

The landscape explains much of the city's story. The same boulder country continues toward Hampi, the ruined capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, which lies within easy reach to the northwest. The surrounding district is known for iron ore mining. Ballari itself has become one of India's large centres of denim and jeans manufacturing, and many small workshops sit between the residential lanes.

A Ballari map poster reduces all of this to line and space. The fort hill reads as a quiet gap in the street pattern, and the rail corridors become firm diagonals. The older core shows a denser grain than the wider layout of the outer wards. It is a portrait of a working town in the Karnataka interior, drawn without colour or noise.

01

Fort on the rock

Ballari Fort sits on a granite hill in the town centre and is divided into an upper and a lower fort. On the map the hill appears as an open patch that the surrounding streets carefully avoid.

02

Railway lines

Tracks cross the town and meet at the station. They draw long straight strokes through a plan that is otherwise shaped by older roads and the uneven ground around the hill.

03

Outer wards

Beyond the core, residential layouts spread in broader, more regular blocks toward the surrounding fields. They show how the town has grown outward along its main approach roads.

Why Ballari

A map that means something

For people from Ballari, the map is recognisable at once by the fort hill at its heart. It works as a reminder of home for anyone who has moved to Bengaluru or abroad, and as a keepsake for travellers who passed through on the way to Hampi.

You can set your own title, add a subtitle such as a family name or a date, and edit the coordinates line. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
