The map
Bejaâd, also written Boujad, is a town in the Khouribga province of central Morocco. It stands on the high plateau between the phosphate country and the Middle Atlas foothills. From above, the older centre shows as a dense, irregular knot of lanes. More regular modern districts spread outwards from it, and beyond them lie open fields and dry grazing land.
The town grew up around a zawiya, a religious lodge, founded in the sixteenth century by the Sufi figure Sidi Mohammed Cherqi. It became an important spiritual and regional centre. Shrines and the old religious quarter still define its historic heart, and the pattern of narrow, winding lanes there is typical of Moroccan medinas.
A Bejaâd map poster shows the contrast between a centuries-old core and the town that has grown around it. Tightly packed lanes at the centre give way to straighter streets and roads leading across the plateau. It is a quiet, meaningful map for people with ties to the town and its spiritual heritage.
The historic core is a dense tangle of narrow, winding lanes around the religious quarter. It is the most intricate part of the poster.
The town's origins in the zawiya founded by Sidi Mohammed Cherqi shaped its old centre. Shrines and religious buildings still anchor its historic layout.
Around the town, open farmland and dry plateau stretch in every direction. Roads cross it in long lines towards neighbouring towns in the region.

Why Bejaâd
Bejaâd means a great deal to its residents and to the many families from the area now living elsewhere. A map of its medina and streets is a respectful, understated way to keep that connection visible at home.
Choose your title and subtitle, perhaps a family name or a date, and personalise the coordinates line. Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand each give the medina a distinct character.
