The map
Caxito is the capital of Bengo Province in Angola, about an hour's drive north of Luanda on the lowland near the coast. From above, the Dande River is the defining feature. It winds across a broad floodplain beside the town, and farm plots, plantations and palm groves stretch along its banks, while the town's streets gather on the slightly higher ground nearby.
The fertile Dande valley has long supported agriculture, including bananas and sugarcane, and Caxito serves as the administrative and market centre for the surrounding area. Its position on the main road north from the capital links it closely to Luanda while keeping a quieter, more rural setting.
A Caxito map poster shows the relationship between the town and the river: a compact grid of streets, the curving line of the Dande, and the fine patchwork of cultivated fields on the floodplain. It is a calm, open composition with plenty of space around the town.
The river meanders across the floodplain beside the town, drawing a smooth, flowing line that anchors the whole map.
Cultivated plots and plantations fill the valley in a fine pattern of rectangles and tree rows, framing the town with farmland.
The main highway leads south toward the capital, a strong, straight line that connects Caxito to the wider coastal region.
