The map
Duayaw-Nkwanta is a town in the Ahafo region of Ghana, in the forest belt of the country’s interior. On a map it is shaped mainly by its roads. The main highway runs through the town, buildings cluster densely along it, and side streets branch off into neighbourhoods of houses and compounds. Beyond them the land opens into farms and patches of forest.
The layout reflects a town that grew along a trade route. Markets, shops and services gather near the main road and its junctions, while residential lanes spread outward in a looser, less regular pattern. The countryside around it is agricultural, with smaller settlements connected by roads and tracks, typical of this cocoa-growing part of Ghana.
A Duayaw-Nkwanta map poster shows the town at the scale its residents know it. The long line of the main road, the dense centre and the branching lanes form a clear and balanced composition. It is a simple, respectful portrait of a working town, made for people who grew up here or who still come back to visit family.
The main road runs straight through the town and forms its backbone. Most buildings and businesses cluster close to it.
Side streets extend from the highway into residential areas. They create a looser, organic pattern that becomes sparser toward the edges.
Farmland and forest surround the town. On the poster this land stays open, framing the settlement and its connecting roads.
