Eslamshahr lies on the plain south-west of Tehran, within Tehran province. On a map it forms a dense, largely flat urban area with long main streets running across it and a fine texture of narrow residential lanes between them. Highways link the city to the capital, and farmland and open ground appear at its southern and western edges.
