The map

About this Shahrīār map poster

Shahrīār lies in Tehran Province, on the broad plain west of the capital and south of Karaj. On the map, the city forms a dense cluster of streets surrounded by agricultural land, with long straight roads leading out to neighbouring towns and villages. The terrain is flat, and the pattern of fields and orchards around it gives the edges a regular texture.

Much of the city's growth has come in recent decades, as the Tehran metropolitan area expanded outward and many residents began commuting to the capital. Shahrīār remains an agricultural centre for the surrounding county, and irrigation channels and field boundaries still define the land between its neighbourhoods and nearby settlements.

A Shahrīār map poster shows a city in the process of meeting its countryside. The centre has a compact, tightly built grid, while newer districts extend along main roads into the plain. In black and white, the contrast between urban blocks and geometric field patterns creates a calm composition with a strong sense of place.

01

Compact centre

The older core forms a dense cluster of small blocks and narrow streets, the darkest and most detailed part of the map.

02

Radiating roads

Long straight roads connect Shahrīār with Tehran, Karaj and nearby towns, extending the city in several directions across the flat plain.

03

Fields and orchards

Agricultural land surrounds the city, its regular field boundaries and irrigation lines giving the map's outer area a fine, geometric texture.
