The map
Głogów lies on the Oder river in Lower Silesia, one of the oldest towns in the region. On the map, the river curves past the centre, and a small island on the opposite bank, Ostrów Tumski, holds the collegiate church. The old town sits on the southern side, with a compact street pattern around the market square, and newer districts spread out further away from the river.
Głogów was almost completely destroyed in 1945, and for decades much of the old town remained in ruins. Reconstruction of the historic centre began in the 1980s and continued for years, returning the layout of streets and the market square. Today the town is known for its copper industry, including one of Poland's major copper smelters, and as the birthplace of the poet Andreas Gryphius.
A Głogów map poster shows the Oder, the island church and the rebuilt old town together, with postwar housing districts around them. In monochrome, the curve of the river and the compact centre on its bank create a clear, balanced composition, ideal for people who know how much work went into restoring the town's historic shape.
The river curves along the edge of the centre in a wide, smooth arc. It is the strongest natural line on the print.
Ostrów Tumski sits on the far bank with the collegiate church. It appears as a distinct area separate from the main town across the water.
The market square and surrounding streets follow the historic layout restored after 1945. They form a compact, orderly core beside the river.

Why Głogów
Głogów's story of destruction and patient reconstruction gives the map a particular meaning. People from the town, including those who have moved abroad, often choose it as a quiet reminder of home and of the effort behind today's streets.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates in Polish or any other language, with a family name or an important date. Choose from five styles; Blueprint and Paper both work well. Download HD files or order a printed poster.
