About this Julianadorp map poster
Julianadorp lies in the far north of North Holland, part of the municipality of Den Helder. It was founded in the early twentieth century and named after Princess Juliana, later Queen of the Netherlands. The original village developed on reclaimed land, and it has since grown into a large residential community with holiday parks along the coast.
The map shows two landscapes side by side. To the west, a band of dunes separates the village from a long North Sea beach, with paths winding through the sand. To the east, flat polder land is divided by straight ditches and roads, the characteristic geometry of Dutch reclamation.
