The map

About this Kasba Tadla map poster

Kasba Tadla sits in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region of central Morocco, on the banks of the Oum Er-Rbia, one of the country's longest rivers. The town grew around a kasbah built in the late seventeenth century under Sultan Moulay Ismail, positioned to control the river crossing and the route between the Atlas and the Atlantic plains.

On the map, the river is the dominant feature: a curving band of water with the older town close to its bank and a historic bridge carrying the road across. Beyond, newer neighbourhoods extend in a more regular pattern of blocks over the flat Tadla plain, one of Morocco's farming areas.

A Kasba Tadla map poster brings together these layers: the meandering Oum Er-Rbia, the dense older quarter near the kasbah, and the more orderly modern districts. In black and white, the river becomes a strong sweep through the composition, with the town gathered along its edge.
