The map
Khwaeng Bang Khae lies on the Thonburi side of Bangkok, west of the Chao Phraya, in a district that grew outward along its main roads over the last few decades. On a map it reads as a fine mesh: long arterial roads, narrow sois branching off them like the teeth of a comb, and housing estates that fill the spaces between with their own small loops and cul-de-sacs.
Water is the older layer. Like much of western Bangkok, the area was once orchards and rice fields laced with khlongs, and several canals still run through it in straight, deliberate lines. Where a canal meets a road, the street pattern often changes direction, showing where the land was first divided and where later building simply filled in the gaps.
A Khwaeng Bang Khae map poster captures a side of Bangkok that few postcards show. There are no temples on the river bank or skyline towers here, just the everyday structure of a residential city: dead-end sois, straight canals and the steady spread of neighbourhoods across flat ground. In monochrome the density becomes a pattern, almost like woven fabric.
Narrow side streets branch from the main roads at regular intervals and end abruptly, a very Bangkok pattern that looks striking when drawn in thin black lines.
Canals cut across the district in long, straight runs, older than most of the streets and still visible as breaks in the built-up fabric.
Planned estates appear as self-contained clusters of curved lanes and small loops, set into the larger grid like separate pieces of a puzzle.

Why Khwaeng Bang Khae
This is a map for people who actually live in Bangkok rather than just visit it: a first apartment, a family home, a soi you know by heart. Its detailed, lace-like texture works well on a wall even for those who have never been there.
Add a personal title, a subtitle such as a street or year, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a printed poster shipped from a nearby print partner.
