The map
Lat Krabang is Bangkok’s eastern gateway, a large district where the capital begins to thin out into the plain. The most striking feature from above is its water. Long, straight khlongs cut across the land in parallel lines, remnants of irrigation channels dug for rice farming, and many roads and lanes still follow their direction.
The district is next to Suvarnabhumi Airport, whose runways and terminal buildings lie just beyond its southern boundary. The Airport Rail Link and the motorway to the eastern seaboard both run through Lat Krabang, cutting diagonals through the old canal grid. An industrial estate and new housing developments fill many of the former paddy fields.
The district is also home to King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, whose campus is a large, orderly block of buildings and green space. A Lat Krabang map poster shows the district mid-change: rural canals, gated housing estates and major transport links laid next to one another on low, level ground.

The elevated line to Suvarnabhumi runs across Lat Krabang, drawing a straight diagonal between the canals on its way to the airport terminals.

Why Lat Krabang
Lat Krabang means a lot to KMITL students and graduates, to people who work at the airport or the industrial estate, and to families who have moved east as Bangkok grows. The map records the place in its own terms, canals included.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a graduation year, and your coordinates, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The canal lines are particularly sharp in Classic black & white.
