The map

About this Malkajgiri map poster

Malkajgiri lies in the northeastern part of Greater Hyderabad, close to Secunderabad. It is overwhelmingly residential, and seen from above it appears as a closely packed mosaic of small plots, narrow lanes and colonies, with few large open spaces. Railway lines pass through the area, and the main roads towards Secunderabad carry much of its daily traffic.

The locality grew from a village into a suburb as the twin cities expanded through the twentieth century, with successive colonies filling the land between the old settlement and Secunderabad. Malkajgiri also gives its name to a parliamentary constituency that ranks among the largest in India by number of voters.

A Malkajgiri map poster captures the texture of everyday Hyderabad: not monuments or waterfronts, but the dense grain of homes, temples, schools and markets built up plot by plot. The railway tracks run through this fabric in clean, confident lines, while small lakes and open grounds nearby appear as rare pauses in the pattern.

Railway corridor

Rail lines cross the district in long curves and straight runs, among the few features on the map that cut cleanly through the dense housing.

02

Colony layouts

Residential colonies built at different times sit side by side, some in neat grids and others in irregular clusters, giving the map a patchwork texture.

03

Link to Secunderabad

Main roads lead southwest towards Secunderabad, tying the district into the older cantonment city and the wider road network of Hyderabad.
