About this Marana map poster
Marana stretches across the desert northwest of Tucson in Pima County, Arizona. The mostly dry bed of the Santa Cruz River runs through it, and Interstate 10 follows the same corridor. The town covers a large area. There are older farm grids in the flat valley, newer neighbourhoods toward the Tortolita Mountains, and open desert in between.
Farming, including cotton, shaped Marana's early history, and the square fields of the valley floor are still clearly visible. More recent growth has added winding golf-course communities and master-planned subdivisions in the foothills, including Dove Mountain, set against the saguaro-covered slopes.
