The map

About this Minhang map poster

Minhang is a district of Shanghai rather than a separate city, covering a large stretch of the municipality's southwest. On a map it reads as a mix of scales: dense residential blocks near the city centre, broad industrial parcels further south, and the wide sweep of the Huangpu River bending through its southern part on the way toward downtown Shanghai.

The land is flat and low, and the street pattern is threaded with the small canals that once defined the whole Yangtze delta. Qibao, an old water town inside the district, keeps a compact core of lanes and bridges along its canal. Elevated expressways and metro lines cross everything in long straight lines, tying Minhang to the rest of the city.

The Hongqiao transport hub, with its airport and high-speed railway station, sits on Minhang's northern side, and the district also holds large campuses of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and East China Normal University. A Minhang map poster captures that layered pattern of water, infrastructure and neighbourhoods, a very different view of Shanghai from the familiar Bund skyline.

01

Huangpu River bend

The Huangpu enters the district from the southwest and curves through it in a wide arc, dividing Minhang into two unequal parts and giving the map its strongest line.

02

Qibao water town

A small historic core of narrow lanes and canal bridges, Qibao shows up as a fine-grained patch among the larger modern blocks around it.

03

University campuses

The Jiao Tong and East China Normal campuses form large, orderly enclosures of paths, lawns and sports fields in the south of the district, clearly different from the surrounding streets.

Why Minhang

A map that means something

Minhang is where many people in Shanghai actually live, study or work, and a map of the district feels more personal than a generic city view. Graduates often want their campus, and families want the few blocks around their building.

Add a title such as the name of your compound or university, a subtitle with a date, and your own coordinates line. Pick one of five styles, from Noir to Blueprint, and download 300 DPI PNG and PDF files or order a matte print with an optional frame.
