The map
Nichinan stretches along the southern coast of Miyazaki Prefecture on Kyushu, facing the Pacific. From above, the coastline does most of the drawing. Rocky headlands, small bays and a working harbour at Aburatsu break the shoreline into a rhythm of inlets. Inland, green hills cut by river valleys rise quickly, and the roads follow the valleys closely.
Tucked into the hills is Obi, a former castle town of the Itō clan. It is often called the little Kyoto of Kyushu for its preserved samurai streets and stone walls. On the coast, Udo Shrine is built into a sea cave above the waves, one of the best-known sights of the Nichinan coast. The town's roots run both to the harbour and to the old domain inland.
A Nichinan map poster brings those parts together. The fine grid of Obi sits in its valley, the harbour streets gather around Aburatsu, and a long coastal road threads between them. It is a sparse, elegant map, with as much sea and hillside as street, and it rewards a slow look.

The port at Aburatsu forms a sheltered inlet with piers and waterfront streets. For a long time it was the maritime heart of the area.
South of the city the coast breaks into capes, coves and rocky shelves. The famous cliffside Udo Shrine sits here, and the coastal road traces every turn.

Why Nichinan
Nichinan appeals to anyone drawn to quiet coastlines and old Japanese towns. The map balances open sea, wooded hills and small patches of dense street. It feels calm on a wall and still holds plenty of detail up close.
Add a personal title, a subtitle with a travel date, and your coordinates line. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint and Noir give the Pacific edge a strong, graphic outline.
