About this Oyem map poster
Oyem is the capital of Woleu-Ntem province in the far north of Gabon, close to the borders with Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. The town sits on a hilly plateau covered in dense equatorial forest, and on the map its streets spread across rises and valleys in an irregular pattern, adapting to the terrain instead of following a strict grid.
Roads toward the borders and toward the south of the country meet here, and along them the built-up area extends in long arms into the forest. Between these arms, streams and patches of vegetation leave gaps in the urban fabric, so the map shows a loose, open settlement surrounded by an almost uninterrupted expanse of green.
