The map

About this Pickerington map poster

Pickerington lies just east of Columbus, Ohio, mostly in Fairfield County. It grew from a small village into a sizeable suburb over a few decades. The map shows that clearly: a small older core at a crossroads, surrounded by large subdivisions of curving streets, cul-de-sacs and retention ponds laid across what was flat farmland.

Main roads divide the area into large squares, following the section lines of Ohio's rural survey. Inside these squares, each subdivision has its own looping pattern. Interstate 70 passes to the north, connecting the suburb to downtown Columbus. Parks, schools and golf courses leave larger open areas among the housing.

Pickerington calls itself the Violet Capital of Ohio, and it was long home to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum. A Pickerington map poster shows a typical Midwestern suburb from above, a straight rural grid filled with loops and curves.

01

Section-line roads

Straight main roads follow the old rural survey grid and divide the area into large blocks. They are the framework for the whole map.

02

Looping subdivisions

Inside each block, curving streets and cul-de-sacs form distinct patterns, like fingerprints, each belonging to a different neighbourhood.

03

Ponds and parks

Small retention ponds and parks sit among the houses as rounded, open shapes, softening the dense residential texture.
