The map

About this Roosendaal map poster

Roosendaal is in the west of North Brabant, a short distance from the Belgian border. The landscape around it is flat, so the map is shaped mostly by human lines: railway tracks, canals, ring roads and the edges of neighbourhoods. The centre is a small cluster of older, irregular streets, surrounded by more planned postwar districts.

The town has long been an important railway junction on the line between the Netherlands and Belgium. Its station and rail yard take up a noticeable share of the map. Tracks leave the yard in several directions and split the town into sectors. Beyond the built-up area, rectangular farm parcels and drainage ditches produce a fine, even pattern.

A Roosendaal map poster works through contrast: the dense knot of streets in the middle, the confident sweep of the railway lines, and the quiet geometry of the Brabant countryside. It is a modest place. Seen from above, it has a clear and satisfying structure.

01

Railway junction

Several lines converge at the station and spread outward, dividing the town into distinct sectors. The yard is one of the largest single shapes on the map.

02

Old centre

A compact core of irregular streets sits at the heart of the town. The finer grain there contrasts with the wider layouts of later neighbourhoods.

03

Polder field pattern

Around the edges, long rectangular plots and straight ditches create a regular texture typical of the western Brabant landscape.
