The map

About this Sam Sen Nai map poster

Sam Sen Nai is a subdistrict of Phaya Thai district in Bangkok, north of the city centre. It is fully urban, a mix of government offices, apartment blocks, shophouses and residential lanes. On a map it shows the fine, closely packed network typical of the Thai capital's older inner suburbs.

The structure follows Bangkok's familiar logic. Large arterial roads carry the traffic and the elevated BTS line, and narrow sois run off them at right angles. Many of these lanes end in dead ends or connect through small side passages. Blocks are long and deep, and the short streets inside them create a comb-like texture across the map.

A Sam Sen Nai map poster captures that texture well. The contrast between broad main roads and the tight web of sois becomes the subject, drawn in fine black lines. It is a precise record of a neighbourhood for residents, office workers and anyone who has spent part of their life in this corner of Bangkok.

01

Arterial roads

Wide main roads frame the subdistrict and carry the elevated rail line. They form bold, straight strokes that divide the map into large, clearly defined blocks.

02

Comb of sois

Side lanes branch off the arterials at regular intervals, and many end before they reach another street. This gives the blocks their distinctive toothed pattern.

03

Dense fine grain

Small lanes and connecting alleys fill nearly every block, so the poster shows rich, even detail across the frame with few open spaces.
