The municipality combines several villages, including Schiffweiler, Heiligenwald, Landsweiler-Reden and Stennweiler. On a map they appear as separate built-up areas along valleys and ridges, connected by roads through wooded hills.
Mining left clear traces on the landscape. Former colliery sites, spoil heaps and industrial areas are scattered among the villages. The Reden mine site has been turned into a place for culture and leisure, with open spaces and water on the former industrial ground.
