The map

About this Stockach map poster

Stockach sits a short distance from the western end of Lake Constance, where the Überlinger See narrows into farmland and wooded hills. From above, the town splits into two levels. A compact upper town holds the ridge, and a lower town spreads along the valley of the Stockacher Aach, the small river that carries water down toward the lake.

The street pattern shows this split clearly. Short, tightly packed lanes crowd the high ground, while the lower districts open into longer roads, newer housing and commercial strips. Major routes gather here too, and the motorway links that pass close to the town add long, smooth curves to an otherwise small-scale map. The contrast between old knot and modern ribbons is what gives a Stockach map poster its character.

The town is best known in Germany for its Narrengericht, the fools' court, a carnival institution that locals trace back to the fourteenth century and the jester Hans Kuony. Every year the court holds a mock trial of a public figure. It is an unusual tradition for a town of under twenty thousand people, and it gives Stockach a reputation well beyond its size.

01

Upper and lower town

The old core occupies raised ground, and the map shows it as a dense cluster of short streets, clearly separated from the looser grid that fills the valley below.

02

Stockacher Aach

The small river threads through the lower town and continues toward Lake Constance, drawing a thin, winding line that ties the settlement to the lake basin.

03

Crossroads of routes

Regional roads and nearby motorway connections converge around Stockach, and their broad curves frame the town like a set of loose brackets on the page.

Why Stockach

A map that means something

For people from the Hegau and the Lake Constance area, Stockach is often the town they drive through on the way to the water, or the one they return to each carnival season. A map of its two-level layout is a quiet reminder of home without being a postcard.

The poster can carry your own title, a subtitle such as a family name or a date, and a coordinates line. Choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, depending on whether you want crisp contrast or a softer, warmer tone.
