The map
Seen from above, Terneuzen sits where land meets a broad tidal estuary. The Western Scheldt runs along its northern edge. The water is so wide that the opposite bank reads as a distant line, and the town is built close against the dyke. Just to the west, basins and lock chambers mark the entrance to the canal that carries shipping south to Ghent, and that canal gives the map a strong, straight axis.
The old centre is compact, a small cluster of streets close to the water, while newer neighbourhoods spread south in orderly blocks. Beyond them the polders of Zeelandic Flanders take over, divided into long rectangular fields by drainage ditches and country roads. In black and white, this contrast between the tight town and the open, ruled landscape is what gives a Terneuzen map poster its character.
Terneuzen is one of the main towns of Zeelandic Flanders, the strip of the Netherlands that lies south of the estuary and borders Belgium. Its sea locks are among the largest in the country, and the port area along the canal is part of a cross-border harbour shared with Ghent. The Western Scheldt Tunnel now links the town by road to the rest of Zeeland, north of the water.
The estuary fills the top of the frame as a broad open surface, with the town's dyke line running along it. Ships bound for Antwerp pass close to this shore.
The Ghent–Terneuzen Canal begins here with a cluster of lock chambers and harbour basins, then runs south as one of the straightest lines on the map, lined by industry.
Around the town, reclaimed land is divided into long parcels by ditches and dykes, producing a fine, regular texture that frames the built-up area on its landward sides.

Why Terneuzen
For people who grew up in Zeelandic Flanders or worked in the port and around the locks, this map holds a very particular geography of water, sluices and flat land. It suits a hallway or a study, where its strong horizontal lines read clearly from a distance.
You can set your own title and subtitle, adjust the coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint works especially well with the canal and lock geometry. The digital files cost $9 and include six print sizes, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF.
