The map
Velserbroek is a district of the municipality of Velsen in North Holland, built largely from the 1980s onward on reclaimed polder land north of Haarlem. Unlike older Dutch towns, it has no historic core. Instead, the map shows a carefully planned layout: neighbourhoods arranged around loop roads, cul-de-sacs, ponds and drainage channels, all set on perfectly flat ground.
Water is everywhere in the plan, as in any polder. Straight ditches from the older agricultural landscape remain visible at the edges, while newer ponds and curving watercourses run between the housing areas. Cycle paths and footpaths create a second network alongside the roads, and green strips separate one neighbourhood from the next.
To the east lies Spaarnwoude, a large recreation area of lakes, woods and meadows, and to the north the land runs towards the North Sea Canal and IJmuiden. A Velserbroek map poster shows how a modern Dutch residential town is put together: logical, green and threaded with water.

Ditches, ponds and channels cross the district, some running straight from the old farmland and others curving gently through the parks.
The recreation area to the east adds lakes, woodland and open meadow, a large soft shape beside the town's tightly planned streets.

Why Velserbroek
Velserbroek is a town of young families and first homes, and a map is a natural way to mark those years. The planned pattern of loops and waterways makes a surprisingly graphic, modern-looking print.
Choose a title, add your street or a date to the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line. Blueprint suits the planned layout especially well, though Classic black & white, Noir, Paper and Sand are also available, digitally or printed.
