Te mapa
Agaléga is an outer island dependency of Mauritius, lying far to the north of the main island in the western Indian Ocean. It consists of two islands, North Island and South Island, both long, low and fringed by reef. From above they sit almost in a line, separated by a shallow channel and sandbanks, together forming a slender shape in open water.
The islands have a small resident population, historically working on coconut plantations. Settlements are scattered and simple, connected by tracks through the palms. In recent years an airstrip and jetty have been built on North Island, which appear as some of the few long, straight lines on the map.
An Agaléga map poster is almost entirely coastline and reef. The two islands take up a narrow band through the centre of the frame, surrounded by the white of the ocean and the fine contours of the lagoon edges. It is a spare, remote composition that suits anyone connected to these rarely visited islands.
North Island and South Island lie end to end, separated by a shallow channel. Together they make a long, thin outline that reads like a pair of brushstrokes.
A reef rim wraps both islands, visible on the map as a second faint line around the shore. It traces the boundary between shallows and deep ocean.
A long runway crosses North Island, one of the few straight lines in an otherwise curving landscape. It marks the island's main link with the outside world.

Koteā ko Agaléga
Agaléga is a map for people with a personal tie: families from the islands, those who have worked there, or Mauritians who hold it as part of home. Few places have their own print.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed to a name, a date or the Creole spelling you prefer. Blueprint suits the reef and lagoon edges, and Paper gives the islands a softer, archival finish.
