Te mapa
Aksay lies on the Don River, immediately east of Rostov-on-Don, and its map is shaped by the river and the steep bank above it. The older part of town runs along the water at the foot of the slope, while newer neighbourhoods spread across the flat land at the top. Ravines cut down toward the river, and the streets bend around them rather than crossing directly.
One of the most prominent features is the bridge of the M-4 Don highway, which crosses the river at Aksay and carries much of the traffic between Moscow and the south of Russia. The town has a long history as a trading and customs point on the Don, and a historic customs outpost building from the eighteenth century has been preserved as part of a local museum.
An Aksay map poster captures a town divided into two levels, the riverside and the plateau above it, and joined by winding streets and ravines. The broad curve of the Don and its floodplain give the composition a strong, open edge, while the highway and railway add long straight lines. In black and white, the contrast between them feels both dynamic and calm.

The M-4 bridge crosses the Don at Aksay, a long straight line that makes the town an important point on the route south.
Steep ravines cut down to the river from the plateau above, forcing the streets to curve and giving the map its irregular shape.

Koteā ko Aksay
For people from Aksay and Rostov, and anyone who has crossed the Don on the long road south, the map captures a recognisable place. Its riverside composition works well in larger formats.
