Te mapa
Alamo lies in Hidalgo County in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, between the cities of San Juan and Donna. The land here is almost perfectly flat, and the map shows a strong rectilinear order: roads run in long straight lines north to south and east to west, dividing the area into regular blocks and large agricultural parcels.
Interstate 2, running together with US 83, crosses the city on an east-west line, while older roads and irrigation canals follow the grid of the original farm tracts. Many of those tracts were planted with citrus, and orchards still appear around the edges of town. An Alamo map poster captures this orderly, almost geometric landscape of the valley.
Alamo is known as a winter home for many seasonal residents, often called Winter Texans, who fill its RV parks and mobile home communities during the cooler months. South of the city, toward the Rio Grande, the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge protects riverside forest that draws birdwatchers from across the country.
Long straight roads laid out on a regular grid divide the city and its surroundings into rectangles, giving the map a clear, measured structure.
Interstate 2 and US 83 run across Alamo from east to west, a broad line that connects it with neighbouring valley cities on either side.
South of town, farmland gives way to the wooded refuge land along the Rio Grande, where the grid ends and the map becomes softer and more irregular.
