Te mapa
Alton lies in Hidalgo County in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, just north of Mission and part of the wider McAllen metropolitan area. The map is shaped by the Valley's agricultural past. Long, straight roads follow the old survey and irrigation tracts, north–south and east–west, and newer subdivisions fill the squares between them with cul-de-sacs and short looping streets.
The area around Alton was long citrus and vegetable country, watered by canals drawn from the Rio Grande. As the region grew, housing replaced many of the fields, but the underlying geometry stayed. That is why the town reads so clearly from above. It is a lattice of mile roads with residential pockets set into each cell.
An Alton map poster makes that structure the subject. The main farm-to-market roads become strong straight lines, the subdivisions add fine texture, and the remaining open land and canal lines give the design space to breathe. It is a good example of how a flat, planned landscape can make a crisp and graphic print.
Major roads run at regular intervals in both directions, a legacy of how Valley farmland was surveyed. They form the strong frame that holds the rest of the map together.
Inside each grid square, residential streets curve, loop and end in cul-de-sacs. They add a softer, more intricate texture against the straight arterials.
Canals and drainage lines that once fed citrus groves still cut across parts of the area. On a map they are faint diagonals that break the strict grid.

Koteā ko Alton
Alton is where many Valley families built their first homes, and a map of its streets marks that part of life. The poster can centre on your own neighbourhood and still show the regular order of the grid around it.
Add a title and subtitle, perhaps a street name and move-in year, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Digital files come in six print sizes for $9, and framed prints ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
