Te mapa
Ambohidratrimo lies on the Highlands just north-west of Antananarivo, not far from Ivato airport. The map shows a pattern shared by many towns of the Imerina region. Settlement gathers on and around a hill, and the low ground below is divided into flooded rice paddies, crossed by raised paths, roads and channels.
The hill of Ambohidratrimo is counted among the twelve sacred hills of Imerina, the historic royal and spiritual centres of the Merina kingdom. The town's position, looking over the fertile plain toward the capital, reflects that heritage. Today it also works as a growing suburb within reach of the city.
An Ambohidratrimo map poster sets the contrast between hill and plain in clean line work. Roads bend upward toward the high ground, and the paddies spread out as a fine, geometric field pattern. It is a meaningful piece for Malagasy families at home and abroad, and for anyone interested in the landscapes of the Highlands.
The historic hill rises above the surrounding plain. Streets and paths wind up its slopes, making it the focal point of the map.
Flat, subdivided fields fill the low ground around the town, creating a delicate grid of plots and dykes that contrasts with the curving hill roads.
Roads link Ambohidratrimo to Antananarivo and the Ivato airport area, and they show up as clear lines crossing the plain to the south-east.

Ambohidratrimo holds both family and historical meaning. It is a royal hill of Imerina and home to many people who now live elsewhere. A map poster gives that connection a quiet, lasting form.
