Te mapa
Aroa is a town in Yaracuy State in northwestern Venezuela, in a valley surrounded by forested hills. From above, the town is compact and follows the valley floor. Roads run along the valley to neighbouring communities, and the slopes on either side rise steeply.
The town is known for its copper mines, which date back to colonial times and belonged for a long period to the family of Simón Bolívar. The old mining area is now a recreational park that preserves traces of the industrial past, including remains linked to the railway that once carried ore toward the coast.
An Aroa map poster shows a small settlement defined by its terrain. There is room on the valley floor for a modest street network, and the hills around it are mostly roadless and green. The contrast makes the drawing simple and strong.
The town fills the flat ground in the valley, and its streets stretch in the same direction as the valley itself.
The old mining area near town, once part of the Bolívar family's property, is now a park that keeps the memory of that industry.
Steep wooded slopes surround the valley. On the map they appear as wide empty space around the built-up area.
