Te mapa
Arroio do Meio lies in the Taquari valley in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. The town stands on the Taquari River, and from above it spreads along the bank with streets climbing the gentle slopes behind. Farmland and small settlements fill the valley around it, reflecting the German and Italian immigrant communities that shaped this region.
The river has defined the town's recent history too. In 2023 and again in 2024, severe floods on the Taquari hit towns along the valley, including Arroio do Meio, damaging homes, roads and bridges. Much of the riverside has been rebuilt since, and the relationship between town and river remains central to its map.
An Arroio do Meio map poster places the river at the centre of the composition. Its broad curve sets the town's outline, bridges cross it, and the street network follows the land above the water. In black and white the scene is calm and clear, a quiet portrait of a place shaped by its river.
The river runs past the town in a wide curve and forms its main edge, dominating the map and shaping how the streets are laid out.
Behind the riverside, streets climb the gentle slopes of the valley, giving the town a layered form between water and higher ground.
Around the town, the Taquari valley is a patchwork of small farms and settlements linked to the region's German and Italian heritage.
