Te mapa
Asamankese is a town in the Eastern Region of Ghana and the main town of the West Akim area. On the map it appears as a compact centre where several roads meet, with residential streets spreading out between them. The pattern is informal rather than gridded, following the gentle rise and fall of the land, and the built-up area thins steadily into farmland.
The surrounding region is one of Ghana's productive farming areas, with forest and cultivated land extending around the town, and Asamankese serves as a market and trading centre for nearby communities. Roads connect it with the wider Eastern Region and towards Accra, so the town's shape on the map is drawn out along these routes rather than forming a neat circle.
An Asamankese map poster shows a town defined by movement and trade: a knot of streets at the centre, main roads stretching outward and settlement following them into the countryside. In a clean black-and-white design, the lines of the roads and the open land around them create a composition that is easy to read and personal to anyone who knows it.
Several main roads meet in the middle of town, forming the densest point of the street network and the natural centre of the composition.
Routes towards neighbouring towns stretch the built-up area in several directions, giving Asamankese an elongated, star-like outline on the poster.
Beyond the town, cultivated land and forest fill the margins of the map, leaving generous open space around the network of streets.
